"The Sound and the Fury (The Stargate Sequence)" was a composition I started working on in 7th grade. I was inspired to write it by hearing Jaco Pastorius for the first time, especially his work on "Black Crow" by Joni Mitchell. The song is essentially my musical life flashing before my eyes, as it contains inspiration and references to numerous artists that inspired me, such as Rush, Yes, Stewart Copeland, Andy Summers, Led Zeppelin, Christian McBride, Joshua Redman, Sam Yahel, and Pat Metheny. The title is a reference to my favorite film, Stanley Kubrick's "2001: A Space Odyssey."

The song was recorded in its entirety in one evening.
